Welcome !

The Troop philosophy and main goals of Troop 30 are for each Scout to develop academic skills, self confidence, ethics, leadership skills, and citizenship skills that influence their adult lives, all while having fun - fun with a purpose! Each Scout is encouraged to challenge himself both physically and mentally, but no one is forced to do something they can't or won't do - but they often surprise themselves (and their parents). Meetings are held Monday evenings from 7:30 - 9:00pm from September through June.

If you are visiting us for the first time, please click on the "About Troop 30" link to the right to learn more.  For more information or to discuss joining the Troop, please contact Gary Thau, Scoutmaster at glt383@yahoo.com or Art McCarthy, Troop Committee Chair at ajmaciii2@aol.com.

Please send me an email at glt383@yahoo.com noting if you are attending on Saturday, March 11 and if you do/do not need a ride.

Blacksmithing merit badge and knifemaking opportunity!

Posted on Jan 28 2023 - 8:37am

Scouts will have an exciting opportunity to work with a blacksmith to forge a railroad spike into a knife on February 5 at 11 am. This event has limited availability so please email yardleytroop30bandg@gmail.com to schedule. It is $30 a scout.

Please note your desire to participate on February 5 and note your availability for an overflow date of February 26. Include your height in the sign up. You aren’t signed up until confirmed, due to the limited capacity.

Participants will get to work within a forge to shape their knife. They must wear closed toed shoes, natural fibered clothing (cotton or wool) and long pants/sleeves. The event will take 2-3 hours depending on the number of scouts.

It is hosted at 334 N Olden Ave in Trenton by Hebrew Hammer Blacksmith.

Please also check out Troop 30’s new website! www.YardleyTroop30.org.

We will be keeping it updated with activities, and expanding the resources available on it as we roll over from the old website. The website is a great way to
advertise to your friends who may be interested in the troop.
